We take great pleasure in supporting the coal industry at Extreme Coal. For years, decades and even centuries coal has provided unmentionable benefits for our nation and other countries. As a little girl, I can remember washing my dad's coal truck which at the time seemed bigger than life to me, and from that time in my life streams a great respect for the industry. Yes, I am a coal miners daughter and I am very proud of my heritage. Now, it's my turn to give back to the industry only a portion of the benefits that I have received from it. Extreme Coal, Inc was formed to bring recognition to the coal industry by highlighting it in various ways. We seek to be an advocate for the industry to the general public by providing educational materials and seminars. We also link industry professionals together with an annual event in Pikeville, Kentucky alternating between a symposium and an exposition on a larger scale. I feel strongly that our youth need to be reached for our industry at an early age simply because of the negative media that they are exposed to as they grow. If we start young enough then both they and the coal industry will prosper. They will apply the new technology that is growing in rapid speeds with their respect for the industry and the environment and come up with solutions that solve the concerns of today's environmentalist issues. Although some of those issues are legitimate concerns and some are not the industry is well worth addressing all issues in order to keep us in the best source of energy... Coal. If we lived in a cartoon world I believe I would really like to see a world without coal for a day, and I say that because then people would realize the difference it makes in our energy demand they would not be so easily set to debate the need for it but would rather be part of a planning committee to solve any problems that may exist. I am proud of the industry and think that we have come a long way since pick and shovel and I look forward to being a part of the future of coal. Tammy Bartley, President Extreme Coal, Inc. |
